Purpose of the website This website offers support to schools and education authorities taking forward the implementation of the National Priorities in Education and will be continually updated to reflect new developments.
As well as all the information provided in the support pack for schools and the CD-ROM, the site contains individual school data. It is important to remember that this site and the other support materials available offer help, not direction.
The site would be best viewed as a resource for reference as and when required. Target setting The use of the materials on this site in the target setting process, and in any aspect of progressing towards the desired outcomes associated with the National Priorities, is of course optional.
The suggested analyses for National Priority 1 have been found to be useful in the past and you may find them familiar.
If not, and you find statistical analysis daunting, you may wish to look to your education authority or the National Priorities Support Team (see details below) for assistance. You will need a password to access your own school data.
Your education authority will give this password to you. Role of education authorities Education authorities, like schools, have a key role to play in taking forward the National Priorities in Education.
Education authorities will agree targets with schools and will moderate the self-evaluation that schools will undertake in relation to the quality indicators taken from How good is our school?
When strategies are suggested in the support materials to help secure improvement in a particular area, they are not intended to replace a whole authority approach where one exists.
Each education authority has a National Priorities Co-ordinator who will be able to give advice on the implementation of the National Priorities in Education in your authority.
